Abstract

The paper explores the expected roles of library and information professionals in implementing health literacy programmes. It discusses health literacy concepts, the nexus between libraries and health literacy promotion, justification for rural community programs, and strategies including NGO collaboration, school-to-school approaches, technology deployment, and partnerships with health workers. Challenges include language barriers and lack of requisite skills, with recommendations for translation to local dialects and proper training.
